Overview

Sundays are the church day, and the whole country "shuts down" and attends church, but there are now flights to Aitutaki available.

Christianity plays an important role in our lives and Sunday is a day for celebration, prayer, families and singing. There are several denominations who welcome your attendance at church services on Saturdays or Sundays. An uplifting highlight of your visit will be the joyous sound of a Sunday choir.

The voices of the choir are the locals singing in Acapella tones and all the songs that they sing are in the native language of Maori.

All of the locals are very inviting, if you want to go to the church services they are more then welcome to have you stand besides them and worship. Most of the service is done in Maori, with minor English spoken, so you will really be able to experience how they partake in the spiritual rituals and see how another culture worships.

The local women wear all white when they attend the church services, and they wear rito hats which are and woven hats.
