The hotel is built on the grounds of the first hotel built on the island, the Bali Hai. In 1961, three young Californians, inspired by Polynesia, created a mythical hotel. The “Bali Hai Boys,” as they were known, continued on to build a hotel in Raiatea in 1966 where they invented the overwater bungalow.
The Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa features three stone tiki sculptures (mythical figures of Polynesia) that honor the rich Polynesian culture and traditions. The sculptures guard the lobby area, the garden and the pool.
This charming "boutique hotel is a perfect blend of luxury and serenity making it an ideal destination for couples, honeymooners, divers and families...This traditional Polynesian style resort offers 94 rooms and bungalows. It features 28 Over Water Bungalows, 8 Beach Bungalows, 28 Garden Bungalows and 30 Garden Rooms & Family Rooms. Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa offers garden bungalows with private plunge pool, but guests may also enjoy the clear water of the hotel's infinity swimming pool, the largest one of the island. In addition, all bungalows offer a direct access to the lagoon. Premium overwater bungalows are set right above the reef drop off that allows fabulous snorkeling.

The hotel has the restaurant "Le Mahanai" with polynesian flavors. The terrace of the bar "Autera'a" is also a perfect place for an afternoon snack. Other facilities are available : 1 bar, 2 meeting rooms, 1 boutique and a wide range of land or water activities and excursions. The hotel has an on site diving center, a spa and a Polynesian tattooist. Manea Spa invites you to experience the traditional Polynesian massage thanks to the best certified 100% natural products. As part of our commitment for the protection of the environment we have developed a coral nursery called To'a Nui which spreads beside the overwater bungalow; this park allows a colony of corals to regenerate in perfect ecological conditions. Our guests can freely discover this unique place (snorkeling).
