Sydney Bridgeclimb
OverviewBridgeClimb gives people the unforgettable experience of standing at the summit of one of the world's greatest icons – the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The inspiration behind this incredible experience is businessman Paul Cave. After successfully organizing a group climb as part of the Young Presidents Organisation World Congress in 1989, Paul decided that the climb was one of the most incredible things to do in Sydney, and more people deserved to experience it. He took on the huge challenge of bringing BridgeClimb to the public. Nine years later, on 1 October 1998, BridgeClimb launched the first public Climbs to the world. It soon became the number one thing to do in Sydney. At a press conference attended by 300 supporters, the media, Bridge workers and descendents of chief engineer JJC Bradfield, NSW Roads Minister Carl Scully declared BridgeClimb open. Media coverage was widespread. The city gave us a hearty welcome and this warm embrace has continued. |
