Harbour Jet
OverviewHarbour Jet - Sydney Australia is Sydney's original jet boat Adventure Company and has been in operation since April 2000. Following the proven success of Jet Boats in New Zealand and the obvious growing need for an alternative to the 'tea & scone' cruises on Sydney's Harbour, a new operation was born to cater for the more adventurous consumer. Design and construction of a new purpose built vessel began in November 1999 to provide a new type of water-based tourist attraction on Sydney's world famous Harbour. Harbour Jet currently operates three vessels. A 10 seater ("Foxy"), a 14 seater ("HJ1") and the new 22 seater ("HJ2") which was in demand after the fast-growing numbers of passengers over the years. The company offers three different rides from 35 minutes to 80 minutes throughout Sydney and Middle Harbour; all encompassing 75km/h jet boating manoeuvres of 270-degree spins, power brake stops and fishtails. Harbour Jet's signatory ride, the 50-minute Sydney Harbour Adventure, allows passengers to not only discover the magic of Sydney and its key Harbour icons, while receiving light-hearted commentary and photo opportunities, but also to experience the amazing capabilities of a Jet Boat. Fitted with awesome stereo systems, a continual mix of music keeps the Jet Boats rockin! A great day out is guaranteed all year round with Harbour Jet's provision of full-length spray jackets and dry pants. Skippers are fully qualified to Master Class V, and individual bucket seats (the first of its kind in a jet boat) and safety handrails have been fitted to all vessels to maximise the comfort and safety of passengers. Harbour Jet also offers 9 extreme discounted packages to satisfy the needs of those looking for a little more excitement. Packages include helicopter flights, seaplane rides, entry to the Sky Tower and Tour, Shark Dives, Aquarium entry, Imax Movie, Harley Davidson rides, Luna Park entry and also Skywalk entry. To date, Harbour Jet has carried over 300,000 passengers. Over the past 6 years Harbour Jet has established many strong business and marketing relationships with industry and government bodies including: Tourism New South Wales, Australian Tourist Commission, Inbound Tour Operators, International wholesalers and Domestic agents, Sydney Ports Authority, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Darling Harbour Authority, National Maritime, Waterways Authority of New South Wales (with whom a code of conduct has been initiated with to ensure the continual operation of Jet boats in a safe manner on Sydney Harbour) and Local Businesses within the areas of leisure and business tourism. Harbour Jet is a member of Qantas Holidays and New South Wales Holidays preferred wholesale programs and regularly coordinate familiarisation programs for both National and International travel companies so that they may experience the product. Harbour Jet is also a strong supporter of the Visiting Journalist Program, on behalf of Tourism New South Wales and Australian Tourist Commission. Harbour Jet attends a number of national and international trade shows and workshops each year including ATE, OZ Talk US & UK, Sydney on Sale and ATEC symposiums. Harbour Jet's reputation as a professional and entertaining tourist attraction has also resulted in high media interest in Australia, such as TV coverage on Channel 10 'Cheese TV', Channel 9 'Getaway', and Channel 7 'Sydney Weekender' amongst others both domestically and overseas. In the past Harbour Jet has supported many highly reputable charities, as well as Sydney Schools, Sporting groups, and many other worthy causes. In 2006 Harbour Jet has chosen 3 highly recognizable charities to support and donate to, these are National Breast Cancer Foundation, NRMA Care Flight and Camp Quality. Harbour Jet's tours depart daily from the Convention Centre Jetty Darling Harbour, whilst a booking office with merchandise and photos, is situated in the Harbourside Shopping Centre Darling Harbour. The vessels are birthed at Putney on the Parramatta River where a workshop is also leased for maintenance purposes. Harbour Jet currently employs 18 staff comprising of 8 full time, 2 permanent part time and 8 casual staff. Harbour Jet has grown quickly in the past 6 years well exceeding budget forecasts. Currently generating in excess of $1.5 million per annum with approximately 30% Local Business, 10% corporate bookings 20% Domestic business, and 40% International sales. Harbour Jet is a fun, exciting and expanding business with excellent growth potential.
